The beauty of a good piece of furniture isn't something you notice at first glance, but rather something you realize as you use it, through the contact your body has with it.
I remember once unconsciously running my fingers along the armrests of a chair. It was the right shape and size, at a comfortable height, with a thoughtful, smooth finish, and a natural touch. Like petting a pet, the interaction with this delightful object seemed to transmit the care of its maker to my fingertips and into the heart of its user.
The practical aesthetics of good furniture, such as the enveloping cushioning, the right angle and height of the seat and backrest, and the feel of the surface against the skin, are not exaggerated or pretentious, but give the user peace of mind and comfort, while also blending into the space and becoming part of the landscape.
EVERYTHING
Such was the case with a chair by a Korean artist I saw a decade ago: unassuming, but the curve from the backrest to the armrests was sculpturally beautiful, with function and form coming together to support the human body comfortably. The encounter with this chair, which is still beautiful and practical after all these years, led to the discovery of the intrinsic value of timeless furniture and the possibility of a unique domestic furniture brand, which was the beginning of NATANA.
